Barbara lives in a Sanctuary flat in Hackney, London.
“There are 2 things that make me happy, singing and directing actors. As a choir singer I have sung in concerts alongside stars like Abba and Sister Sledge. Being raised with a world-renowned sky mountaineering champion, I have a verve for sports but prefer water, boating and swimming. To relax, I even lift some weights and do aerobics.
“I want to be involved in the panel to continue and expand the work I did before the pandemic, with the small group of residents improving the Morningside Estate in Hackney. It will be a privilege to be on the Resident Scrutiny Panel and volunteer my skills to improve the living standards of Sanctuary residents on a broader national scale. I am passionate about improvements to social housing, seeing residents thriving and having their voice heard. I believe having a functioning living environment improves quality of life, especially to mental health and alleviates negative thinking around the abilities and prosperity of people living in social housing.”
