What is Third Party Authority?
Third-party authority enables our tenants to permit Sanctuary to disclose information to a family member, friend or professional about their tenancy.
You can choose to allow the named individual or organisation to have access to the whole tenancy or to something specific, such as your rent or payments information. This is designed to support tenants with temporary or long term needs, who are struggling to manage their tenancy.
This could be beneficial in instances where residents require someone else to handle their affairs or represent them in discussions with Sanctuary.
Permission to add a third party can only be granted by:
- those named on the Tenancy Agreement (lead or co-tenant)
- Individuals or organisations with Power of Attorney.
Power of Attorney
We do not send out Power of Attorney (POA) forms; these can be obtained from the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) in England or the Scottish Government Public Guardian website.
If you already have a POA, we need to see a full copy of the Power of Attorney documentation. Please upload a scan or photograph of the document.
Once documentation is received, it must be verified by checking with the OPG (Office of Public Guardian) before it is added to the account.
