We’re delighted to welcome Nigel Wilcock and Kevin Lavery to our Group Board as non-executive members.

Nigel is the newly appointed Chair of Sanctuary Scotland, where he has been a governing body member since May 2023.

He is the founding director of the specialist economic advisory business, Mickledore, and his background and career in economic development and regeneration has fostered a strong interest in social housing and community development.

Nigel has also worked at Deloitte, Northwest Development Agency and Ernst & Young, and brings a wealth of board experience, notably at the Institute of Economic Development and as a member of the University of Salford’s audit and risk committee.

Kevin has expertise in social housing, regeneration, and planning, as well as experience of digital transformation and shared services. He currently works in the NHS, where he is chief executive of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board.

Kevin has a town planning degree from the University of Manchester, a PhD in urban and regional studies from the University of Kent, and is a former Harkness Fellow at the University of Southern California.

He has held chief executive roles at three large local authorities – the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, Cornwall Council, and the City of Wellington in New Zealand.

Kevin also has significant experience in the private sector, as a consultant with Price Waterhouse, the founding CEO of successful digital start-up, Agilisys, and the managing director and divisional chief executive of two FTSE 100 companies and one FTSE 350 company.

Nigel and Kevin replace former board members Trudi Elliott and Alan West, who have stepped down after completing their terms of office.

Existing board member Arvinda Gohil has also been named Vice Chair of the Group Board and Chair of the Group Housing Board. Arvinda has held several executive and non-executive roles and has significant experience of working in the housing, homelessness, charity, voluntary and social enterprise sectors.

“I’m really pleased to welcome Nigel and Kevin to Sanctuary’s Group Board. They both bring a wealth and breadth of experience that makes them well-placed to help us deliver on our mission and social purpose.

I’d also like to extend my thanks to Trudi and Alan for their commitment and contribution to Sanctuary.”
