Outside of busy cities, public transport options can be limited. At Jazz Court scheme in Scarborough, links to public transport are not always convenient. Helen Denton and Hayley Jones have been working together for 6 years and have found that, in the face of few public transport options, car sharing is a convenient way for them both to get to work.
When the weekly rota is issued, Helen and Hayley check their working patterns and work out how they can share journeys. This simple change means that they each reduce the fuel they use, save money on fuel, parking and vehicle wear and tear, and reduce their carbon footprints!
Now regularly sharing their 6-mile journey, the two colleagues have become close friends. “It’s great to have company for the drive - we can catch up and have a good natter on the way! When you’ve had a tough day, it makes a difference to have someone there that you can talk to.”
