Housing Officer Sarah Strawson talks to a resident at a Customer Focus day in Ely, Cambridge

Scammers are always finding new ways to trick people, so it’s important to stay alert and know how to protect yourself.    Scammers can contact you pretending to be from your bank, the police or council, or another company. They could ask for personal information or pressure you to make a payment. It is important to never share personal information or bank details with anyone unless you’re sure it’s genuine.

If you’re ever in doubt, stop the contact immediately and contact the company directly using a trusted number.
